Amor Fati translates from Latin as ‘Love of Fate.’ It means accepting your life with all its variables, loving all its aspects and corners, including difficulties and trials, because these too are part of our existence and contribute to growth and development. Everything has its reason and higher plan.
The concept of amor fati was first introduced by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. It urges us to accept everything that happens to us in life, whether good or bad, and perceive it as an essential part of our personal journey. Embracing this concept leads to inner peace and tranquility and encourages gratitude for both successes and struggles. The central idea of the Amor Fati collection is that anyone can be tested and anyone can get lost in a dark forest – it is then inner strength and personal compass that help the lost find their way out.
The collection is based on several powerful symbols. The most important is the moth, in which few people see beauty at first glance – just as in complex life situations. Only upon closer inspection can one perceive the moth’s non-obvious charm and strength.
The moth is a nocturnal creature that moves effortlessly through the darkness. It has a sixth sense and instinct, with which it can calmly just sense, and doesn’t need to see. The moth thus brings awareness of how important it is to trust one’s inner wisdom and intuition.
Another powerful symbol in the Amor Fati collection is the forest. ‘In many myths and fairy tales, the forest is a place of transformation, where heroes undergo trials, leading to personal growth. The forest can symbolize a spiritual or psychological journey on which an individual changes and develops. Many cultures perceive forests as places with high spiritual energy,’ Janja describes.
The main stones of the collection are aquamarine and rose quartz. Both precious stones are associated with spiritual growth and deepening intuition, with a sense of calm and balance. Aquamarine used to be a talisman for sailors who believed it protected them on their journey from the dangers of the sea. ‘The stone is associated with courage and protection, especially when overcoming danger. It can clarify thoughts and brings calm and peace. It helps the ability to express oneself, allow oneself to experience, and thus return to one’s authenticity,’ says Janja.
Alongside aquamarine, rose quartz is important in the Amor Fati collection. It can open the heart, receive and express love. It is strongly connected with emotional healing. ‘It can calm pain and sadness, heal old wounds. It helps us accept ourselves as we are,’ adds the jeweler. All the stones used have certificates of authenticity from internationally recognized gemological laboratories such as GIA, and the original aquamarines are of AAA quality.
The Amor Fati collection includes jewelry for daily wear, whether small earrings, chains, and rings, complemented by more distinctive signet rings and necklaces with pendants. A new addition are earrings that work as singles and can be variably combined with each other.
The collection features four originals, two necklaces and two rings. The pearl-type necklace is suitable for daily wear and evenings. It’s made of 14k yellow gold, set with diamonds. The second original is a necklace with a heart-shaped medallion. The medallion is placed directly on the heart. Symbolically, it suggests that we open our hearts only to some. It’s made of 14k rose gold, set with diamonds. Another original is a larger ring with aquamarine, featuring two trees growing side by side, connected by a heart as a seed of love. The tree crowns are full of stars, their branches adorned with diamonds. The scene evokes a magical forest and shared courage for overcoming obstacles. The last original is a smaller ring with aquamarine featuring a tree from the magical forest, holding a stone in its crown full of stars. In the tree, one can also see a heart as a seed of love.
The collection also includes more artistic pieces that will be presented at this year’s Designblok as part of the new High Craft section. The collection will showcase the crown jewels of the magical forest queen: a crown, a magic apple, and armor. ‘These are artifacts made of silver, set with pearls and diamonds, where rose quartz plays the main role, which the queen of the magical forest needs to help us find our way out of the dark forest with the light from her heart,’ says Janja Prokić.
