In 1888, Louis Vuitton and his son Georges Vuittonset out to create a clear and distinctive markerof Louis Vuitton – a seal that would differentiatethe Maison from the competition. Inspired by its birthyear and notably the three number eights, the Damier pattern expressed notions of infinity and limitless eternity. Adorning trunks and luggage, Damier became a strong symbol of originality and authenticity, key codes that have anchored its longstanding evolution. Today, more than a century on, Damier continues to transcend time.
The iconic pattern now welcomes a fresh new expression in Fine Jewelry. Available in either yellow or white gold, the design features golds quares and diamond that reinterpret Damier’s unmistakable form. “It is a diamond collectionthat is not just about the stones but the pattern that they create,” says Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry. The gold’s polished tactility expresses a moving sensuality, complemented by a pure and geometriccenter line that lends a striking sharpness and sophistication. Exquisitely crafted for a unique fluidity and continuity, the pieces wear like a second skin, not unlike the softest knitwear.
The mainstay of this new Fine Jewelry Collectionis the ring. Emanating a pure and dynamic energy, the ring is the cornerstone of the Collection – a crowning inspiration that’s instantly contemporary, impactful and unisex. The ring debuts in three different widths: available in either yellow or white gold, leaning into Damier’s limitless possibilities for stacking, layering and styling – and multiplying the inherent infinity that the design possesses.
When it comes to the new bracelet, it takes cue from the original tennis bracelet’s casual luxury. “I thought about the classic tennis bracelet – always in motion and always on your wrist,” says Amfitheatrof.
However, the collection also includes a chic, single round pendant studded with diamonds, set on a slim yellow gold chain. Meanwhile, a pair of diamond-set yellow gold hoop earrings come in a sculpted, stacked form, again structured around the collection’s signature geometric central line.
