Early autumn in New York was all about the Italian luxury jeweler Bvlgari. To celebrate the launch of their new Bvlgari Tubogas jewelry collection, the brand threw a lavish party in the penthouse of The Refinery at Domino.
This unique location is housed in a historic brick building, formerly the Domino Sugar Refinery, dating back to 1884. The vibrant Williamsburg neighborhood, where the building stands, perfectly complements the innovative spirit of Bvlgari Studio. Interestingly, the building celebrates its 140th anniversary this year, coinciding with the jewelry house Bvlgari’s own 140-year milestone.
The star of the evening was the new Tubogas jewelry collection. This iconic line, first introduced by Bvlgari in the 1940s, has now been reimagined. Its presentation was orchestrated by Bvlgari Studio – a new brand initiative focused on experimental collaborations with designers and artists. The studio’s inaugural edition took place in Seoul, Korea.
Star-Studded Guest List
The event was graced by well-known faces including actresses Monica Barbaro and Dakota Johnson, designer Kelly Wearstler, fashion designer Aurora James, model Olivia Culpo, and ballerina Isabella Boylston. Supermodel Naomi Campbell and actor Damson Idris also made sure not to miss the party.
Guests were treated to performances by futuristic musician Masego and light artist Christopher Bauder. Their dynamic dialogue not only celebrated the Bvlgari Tubogas icon but also beautifully complemented the warm colors of the setting sun over New York City.
The evening featured an impressive presentation of the Tubogas collection’s evolution, from its initial concept to today’s iconic jewelry pieces. The characteristic coiling lines and fluid movement, achieved without any soldering, were highlighted through a sophisticated presentation and digital campaign by artist Antoni Tudisco.
Light, Movement, and Music in Perfect Harmony
The highlight of the program was Christopher Bauder’s kinetic light sculpture, “The Wave,” which transformed Bvlgari Tubogas’ golden spirals into a breathtaking visual spectacle. This perfectly complemented the dance performance by prima ballerina Isabella Boylston.
The entire evening was accompanied by a specially composed soundtrack from Masego, the Jamaican-American artist renowned for his unique fusion of soul, R&B, and jazz. His acoustic performance was truly memorable – especially when he blended his voice with piano tones and looper sounds.
Bvlgari Studio’s journey will continue at the Bvlgari flagship boutique on Fifth Avenue, where a special installation and a selection of Bvlgari Tubogas jewelry creations will be on display.
